We scroll through our dailies like we scroll through our screens. Blank, unintentional. Oxidised in habits. Our vision soluble. Details dissolve. Life dust-lit.
Meanwhile, weeds split pavement beside my feet. Roots cleave wall showing twisted ankles of a tree. A crow scrapes mantras between power lines overhead. Sun spits into drain-water.
Sucked concrete and plucked twilight.
I keep walking.
The day has entered me. Its shoots slick my eyes.
“I think one of the most interesting things is to see life not through any lens other than the everyday. It’s in the things that people don’t always see, the spaces between their thoughts, the things they glance at and forget.”
—Zadie Smith
I was walking and photographing all the tiny spring flowers here in the U.K. the other day and thinking similar thoughts …. Though less poetically. 😀
Thank you! A reminder what we see, take in, share, counts!
